Holy Curiosity

Be a loner. That gives you time to wonder, to search for the truth. Have holy curiosity. Make your life worth living. – Albert Einstein

It’s easy to get tangled in the weeds. We get lost in what everyone else is doing, we listen to what the culture sells us and forget to look at what is going on inside. This is where wonder resides. Having holy curiosity is how we uncover the illusive truths that will change the very fabric of who we are and how we live. It’s the kind of truth that adds an ineffable spark making everything come alive. Holy curiosity brings more joy and magic into our ho-hum routines of living.

A life worth living is one that engages us. When we seek out our truth it allows for greater awareness and lets us be more at home with universal mysteries. Big ideas? What is life if not big? We cheat ourselves by being bound to pettiness, it keeps us small, stuck, and stale. Let what speaks to us in the depth and silence of our soul be what guides us in this life. There is no other path that will have as much impact as the true song of our self.

Holy curiosity is a beacon of light in the chaos and darkness. Here we find ourselves stripped down to the essentials. And from here we will bloom into the mystery that quietly surrounds us. Maybe the first question we could ask ourselves is why do we settle for less? Why are we afraid of what inspires and excites us and instead get bogged down in what doesn’t speak to the truth of who we are? The answer to these questions will point to what keeps us stuck in routine thinking and thoughtless living.

Cultivating holy curiosity to answer these questions that wait inside like seeds waiting to bloom will layer our lives with meaning. Holy curiosity opens us up to the secret gifts life has to offer. But in order to receive we have to search. This is not a search in the sands of endless deserts or the pilgrimage to the top of the mountain. It is inside and the only necessary tools are our curiosity and some silence.

So why not dive deep? Why not spend the night stargazing? Why not live in awe of blooming flowers and croaking toads? Why not open to the million mysteries that surround us everyday?

Remember, we are part of the mystery as well.
