The World Is My Church

The longer I live the more I see this truth, everything is sacred. The gift of seeing the world in this way lets every moment and situation becomes a place of prayer, a place of awe and gratitude, a place where we can fully engage with life. There is no one destination or one right way to actively participate in the evolution of understanding and the creation of greater connection. Everything is the way, you already know what to do, just pick your path.

Right where you are is just as good a place as any. Being brave enough to step into the sacredness of every moment is like the cracking of an egg, the shedding of the chrysalis. It’s the sometimes-uncomfortable process of transformation in our being and way of thinking that opens us up to the light that is all around us and in fact, within us. All of us are broken or wounded in some way and trying to find the light in the little things and small graces. It’s in the most human of ways that we open to the divine.

Where to start worshipping? How about within your own heart? There are endless chances to be compassionate, patient, and receptive, innumerable ways to connect, honor, and reverence life. What may start as a broken attempt at kindness or courage can turn into grateful appreciation of what comes to open new doors and reveal deeper mysteries and meaning. It’s easier when we pick up the thread of what we have in common, the simple things that move our soul, the gifts of nature, or the vast ocean of love.

The church of the world offers us a glimpse at the breathtaking spirit of ordinary miracles and the ability to pick ourselves up when the life we know crashes and burns around us. Every moment is a moment to create greater awareness and honor our experiences. Every moment is another chance to celebrate and revere the mystery we may never completely know but are an integral part of at every step.

It all comes down to whether or not we honestly open to what’s being offered. It’s simple really, we get to choose which way we’ll go and how we’ll approach our lives and the world with every breath. We are always at the altar of our soul trying to find another way to give thanks and welcome in the miraculous that circles around us unceasingly.

The world is our church and every second we have the opportunity to pray, by growing, transforming, and embracing all of life. We practice opening to the unexpected, being in communion, extending kindness, helping someone in need, being simple, quiet, or curious. Don’t wait for a prescribed time to live in the light that never dims. It’s begging you to bloom. Now and always.

Dare to come closer to what’s calling you.
