There is a lot of waiting on when. We wait for the right time, when everything is calmer or more organized, when everyone is happy or healthy or ready for what’s next. We could wait for the stars to align or the signs to present themselves or the consent of another. If we wait for any or all of these things we will wait forever. When will never happen. There is no perfect time, there is no pivotal moment, there is only now. And I can guarantee that deciding when is now will not be easy, it’ll make a mess of things, but when it’s real it’s worth it.
It’s usually overthinking that kills the now. The hesitation and doubt of what we feel inside, the second guessing, the guilt that we’re not perfect (even though that’s impossible) or that we can’t make another truly happy (another impossibility). All of this lands us in the shadows of really living, and we end up we living an almost now. This is the pitfall of waiting, of hedging, of dragging our feet. There are the things we must do to sustain our life and then there are the things that sustain our soul. We need both and luckily the same principle holds true for both, we either carve out the time for the life we want or we don’t. We either make the decisions that bring us joy or not. Every second is a potential when that can transform into now. When when becomes now there are no more excuses, only empowered actions.
Of course a couple of days after when is now popped into my head my good friend Diana posted the same thing. Hers was, if not now, when. The truth is questioning the arrival of when often happens when we are on the verge of great transformation or milestone landmarks on our own particular journey. When is hanging in the air right in front of us ready to shape shift our lives. Turning when into now is the authentic work of the soul. There will always be obstacles, there will always be push back, there will always be a reason to wait to do what we really want. But at some point we just have to say screw it and do what’s calling us anyway.
This is how it is, we are always at the crossroads everyday, every minute, every choice. What do we let in? What is our response to what’s being presented? What do we do when we get knocked down? I hear Maya Angelou in my head, we rise. And that is how when becomes now rather than a waiting game. That is when our lives change in an instant, when we shift into our truth. That is when what is inside gets to be expressed outside in our lives and when is born in the form of new life.
Wishing all your wonderful whens to come true right now.
